After having a conversation with someone yesterday about how they “could never do what I do” because “I have it all together” I need to post this.
Yes. I don’t. You see what I post on social media. NOT what I don’t. And I don’t post the crap. I post happy! Sure, I share a few things – like about miscarriage- but otherwise, I’m posting happy, funny things that will pop up in my memories and make me laugh, or smile, or cry a little because I can’t believe my babes were that small… that’s my highlight reel! I’m posting the things I want to share, the things I want to see again and again. I am not posting the behind the scenes where I’m actually wearing a shirt from last week— still not washed, my hair is a wreck from not washing it either, I still have on yesterday’s makeup even though I know it’s bad for your skin, and my kid has watched too much TV because I just need a moment! Nah, I’m not going to share that (with the exception of now) — but that’s my reality most days. And it’s okay!
Here’s how you stop… water your own damn grass. Stop *wishing* for a life that isn’t yours. MAKE the life you want with prayer and lifestyle changes. Water that grass that’s in your pasture and stop longing for the appearance of greener grass on the other side of that fence. Cuz when you get over there, you’re going to see… ya, this is actually just as brown as mine was under this green paint they used!!! Instead of painting your grass, water it. Fill it full of life and love and happiness. Learn from the mistakes of your pass, remember and grow from the past—don’t not dwell on them. Continue to move forward and you’ll begin to see that grass perk up and have life again.
Comparing your life to mine, or anyone else’s actually, is going to steal your joy. You’re going to constantly be comparing what you’re doing to them. Especially in an instant world where we
Can literally see what you’re doing 24/7 thanks to Snapchat/stories/Social Media in general. Because the life I live, the one you see on social media- and my behind the scenes- isn’t yours! It’s mine. Yours is different because you have different circumstances, you’re a different person. I’m a different person. Social media “superstars” or “instafamous” people are different people— but they’re just that— PEOPLE. They have behind the scenes. They have their real life and what they want you to see.
DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO ANYONE BUT WHO YOU WERE YESTERDAY. You are your greatest competition. Try to be better than you were yesterday. Be happy for those who have success and create your own doing your own thing, in whatever you LOVE. Be passionate. Share positive energy. BE A HAPPY, KIND person!!! BE THE BEST YOU. ??
